More than $70 million bet in a week
When you think about the city of Las Vegas, the images that the countless movies about the great town have shown us always come to mind. No doubt you think of the Strip and the bright lights and of course the possibility that you could go to the city a pauper and come out of there a millionaire. It certainly is the stuff that dreams are made of and that is why despite the fact that the city has fallen on bad times with the economy in the state that it is, it is still home to amazing dreams. These are dreams that people still try to follow and you will find that they are not only going to do it in Las Vegas, but it is the promise of the casino in general that they try to follow.
This was the reason that the Rivers Casino was opened in the first place as it was hoped that this kind of activity would be a good way of gaining additional revenues for the state. The newly established casino has only been open for one week and already its operators are finding that they are facing challenges with issues such as drunken behavior, some theft and to a small extent counterfeiting. This is to be expected with an operation such as this though and at this stage authorities are not overly concerned. But they do want to make sure that there is no chance that this will get worse in the future, so they are keeping an eye on the Rivers Casino.
The casino was quite impressed though by the fact that even though it has only been open for just eight days, it has already reported the fact that people have gambled a staggering amount of money. In fact if the media reports are to be believed, the casino saw more than seventy three million dollars in bets and wagers in just the first week of its operations. This is definitely more than even the most optimistic would have hoped for and especially if one considers the type of economy that the casino has been established in.
This means that there are good times ahead for the casino and of course the state in which it is established will enjoy the revenues. These are going to be increasingly important moving forward but the operators of the casino will have to make sure that they manage the challenges put forward by fraud and the like.
